With over 15,000 international across the three formats, Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest limited-overs openers and is currently one of the finest all-format openers.
Known for his penchant for big scores, the 35-year-old holds a number of records in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
However, there are some more records left for Rohit Sharma to achieve. Already 35, Sharma, who earlier this year became India’s all-format skipper, has some time left at the highest level and can break a few more records that would suit him.
Here are 5 records that Rohit Sharma could break in the coming years:

Highest individual score in an innings as captain in ODIs
Rohit Sharma is the only batsman to hit three ODI double hundreds, including the highest individual ODI score of 264; no other batsman has hit more than one double century.
Now, as the skipper of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma will have a go at the highest ODI score by a captain – which is held by former India opener Virender Sehwag, when he blasted 219 off 149 balls against West Indies in 2011 when he was leading the side as MS Dhoni was injured.
And Rohit Sharma is second behind Sehwag – when he smashed 208* vs Sri Lanka in 2017 while leading the side in the absence of Virat Kohli.
Most ODI centuries against a team
Rohit Sharma has had much success against Australia – against the Aussies, he has hit 8 ODI hundreds. Only Sachin Tendulkar (vs Australia ) and Virat Kohli (vs West Indies) have more ODI tons against a single team: 9.
With plenty of ODI matches to come in the lead-up to the 2023 World Cup, which is in India, and a number of those against Australia, Rohit has a good chance to surpass both Virat Kohli and Tendulkar’s tally. Kohli, in fact, also has 8 hundreds each vs Australia and Sri Lanka. So both are in the race together.
Most T20I sixes
Rohit Sharma is one of the most spectacular and consistent six-hitter the game has ever seen. Without any surprise, he is on the list of the most sites struck in T20Is – he has hit 157 maximums in 128 T20Is; only Martin Guptill – who has had the advantage of playing a lot of his T20Is at the small grounds in New Zealand – with 165 sixes is ahead of Sharma.
Most T20I fours
Not only the big maximums, but Sharma has also been stroking a lot of fours in his career. Hence, a testament to his versatility as a batsman comes in the fact that he has hit 303 fours in T20Is; only Ireland’s Paul Stirling has hit more fours – 326 – than Sharma in T20Is.
Most International sixes
Sharma is chasing another six-hitting record: for most sixes in international cricket. Along with 157 sixes in T20Is, Sharma has clattered 250 in ODIs and 64 in Tests, tallying his total to 471 sixes in international cricket. Only Chris Gayle (553) and Shahid Afridi (476) have hit more maximums that the Indian skipper.
