Gautam Gambhir Picks Between Virat Kohli And Steve Smith

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are two of the best batsmen in the world right now. Be it any format of the game, both the cricketers are the backbone of their respective teams. While Steve Smith is unstoppable when it comes to the longest format of the game, on the other hand, Virat Kohli is the only cricketer who gives him a tough competition.

Both the cricketers have proved their master class in all the three formats of the game. However, the ever-growing comparisons have divided the cricket fans into two sides. As the India vs Australia series is just around the corner, the debate has been intensifying.

Recently, the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was asked about this comparison and he has declared that Virat Kohli is far better than Steven Smith in limited-overs cricket. Showering praises on the Indian skipper, Gautam Gambhir said:

Virat Kohli is far far better than Steve Smith in white-ball cricket. There’s no comparison. I would not compare Kohli to Smith in white-ball cricket. I would actually want to see what spot Smith bats on. Are they’re going to push him at no 4 or would have him bat at 3 and send Labuschagne at no 4.”

Besides this, Gautam Gambhir backed Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami to give a run for money to the Australian batsmen. Praising the brilliance of Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah talked about how the bowlers need to bring their A-game and their quickness and raw pace can work wonders. He said:

“I’m really excited to see how these two guys bowl against some of the top batters like David Warner or Aaron Finch in that kind of form in white-ball cricket on flat wickets. But the best part is that they have got pace. They can actually get wickets with that sheer pace and the quickness in the air as well.”

He added:

“I’ve always believed that when you’re playing on flacid wickets and smaller grounds like the Wankhede or Bangalore, your bowlers need to step up. The kind of form Mohammed Shami is in, it’s a big plus for India that he has done really well in white-ball cricket.
