World Cup 2015: Sachin Tendulkar announced as ICC World Cup 2015 ambassador

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday that India’s legendary batsman and one of the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game, Sachin Tendulkar, , will be the ambassador for the upcoming 2015 Cricket World Cup in February.

Sachin Tendulkar was also the brand ambassador of the 2011 World Cup, which was co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

It is the second successive time that the batting sensation will be the ambassador of ICC’s coveted tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced this news through their Twitter handle:

According to the media reports, Sachin Tendulkar will work towards taking the game globally and expanding the reach of the game. Sachin Tendulkar will promote and support a variety of the international board’s initiatives to enhance the profile of the tournament, which is the third biggest sporting event in the world.

“After playing in the last six editions, the upcoming World Cup will be a different experience as I will follow it from the sidelines. It could probably be comparable to the ICC Cricket World Cup 1987 where I was a ball boy, enthusiastically cheering every ball,” Sachin Tendular said.
