IPL 2022: Fans Are Trolling KL Rahul After He Got Out For A Diamond Duck

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul continues on his weird trend of high highs and low lows in the IPL 2022. Just after slamming a match-winning knock versus Delhi Capitals, he registered a duck – his third of the season – against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday evening in Pune.

This time, though, it wasn’t the bowler doing any magic but some confusion and unnecessary urgency between Rahul and his opening partner Quinton de Kock that resulted in the LSG captain getting run out. And he’s deservedly getting mercilessly trolled on Twitter.

Rahul has been in brilliant form this season – but for scoring runs he’s shown he needs to first get in and avoid being dismissed for ducks right in the first over of the innings. Having registered two golden ducks previously, now the LSG opener has recorded a diamond duck (being dismissed without facing a delivery).

Tim Southee started the proceedings with the ball for KKR after Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and elected to bowl first and facing him was Quinton de Kock. The Kiwi seamer was spot on with his lines and lengths not allowing the South African to free his arms.

With a couple in four balls, de Kock and Rahul may have been getting itchy to get going in the first over, however, that impatience cost them the right-hander’s wicket. The fifth ball from Southee once again cramped de Kock, who tapped it to cover and set off immediately for a quick single; Rahul responded too taking a few steps out of his crease.

However, as de Kock saw Shreyas Iyer sprinting in towards the ball and leaping down to pick it up, he halted and gestured for Rahul to go back. The LSG captain applied quick brakes and turned around to reach back his crease. But, a quickfire throw from the KKR skipper caught Rahul a yard short of his crease and KKR had the big fish, the in-form LSG opener who is the second-leading run-scorer in the tournament.

Fans on social media were really furious about Rahul and de Kock looking for a non-existent single which eventually led to the dismissal of LSG’s best batter and skipper.

Netizens trolled KL Rahul heavily for another duck. Here are some of the best tweets:
