India’s swashbuckling opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan loves batting in ICC Champions Trophy. In 2013, Shikhar Dhawan, playing first ever ICC Champions Trophy, batted brilliantly and made the most number of runs in the tournament. He showed good technique and shot selection and played an instrumental role in India’s triumph that year.

When Shikhar was picked in India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2017, many questions were raised by fans, media and pundits. But, he worked very hard on his during IPL 2017 and won the trust of his fans back.

India have played 3 matches (including the ongoing watch between India and South Africa) and Dhawan has performed in all three of them. He has shown very good technique and patience in the middle.

RECORD ALERT!

ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Shikhar Dhawan Breaks Two Big Records

1) Dhawan has become the fastest batsman in ODI cricket history to score 1000 runs in ICC tournaments. Dhawan has taken only 16 innings to reach the four-digit mark. Former Indian cricketer and arguably the best batsman ever in game’s history, Sachin Tendulkar, took 18 innings to score 1000 runs in ICC tournaments.

Former Indian captain Sourva Ganguly, former South African batsman Herschel Gibbs and former Australian batsman Mark Waugh took 20 innings each to score 1000 runs in ICC tournaments.

2) Dhawan has smashed 6 half centuries in ICC Champions Trophy and he has equalled Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganuly’s record, who also smashed 6 half centuries each in ICC Champions Trophy.
