These Memes Perfectly Justify Twitter’s Anger Towards ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is now at the receiving end of some severe flak, thanks to a woeful choice of location for the glamorous WTC Final. Choosing England, a location known for dank conditions and overcast skies, ICC was already in the middle of an existential crisis with attacks from all ends.

The opening day of the WTC final was washed away due to a heavy downpour. The second day started late and had to be stopped early because of spasmodic bursts of rain and later a bad patch of light, a perfect blend that would serve as a symphony of destruction to an idyllic Test match.

India was off to a decent start on Day 2 after Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill powered some decent strokes. However, the duo fell in quick succession and India was reeling in no time from an imminent collapse. Despite getting a good start, Pujara couldn’t convert it and was shown the exit in quick succession.

Rahane and Kohli stitched together a decent partnership to instill hopes in the Indian line-up. However, day 3 of the Test saw the Kiwi bowlers wrapping things up in a quick span of time. Then their openers struggled to score runs but did manage to hang in there. At the end of Day 3, New Zealand could garner 101 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Even before day 4 could be started, the rain Gods reigned supreme making life a living Abaddon for ICC. The fans were highly inquisitive of the fact that despite being aware of a pouring monsoon in England, why wasn’t the WTC final shifted to some arid country where at least five enduring days of play could have happened, thereby deciding the fate of a winner.

Twitter exploded in anger as they wanted a winner after a long bout of contest that spanned for more than 2 years and it seems like the rain will be the ultimate winner defeating cricket in the process.
