A big section of Indian cricket fans seemed disappointed with the Indian captain Virat Kohli’s batting in the recently concluded Test series against New Zealand.
Virat Kohli, who is widely regarded as the greatest batsman of his generation across all three formats of the game, struggled against the moving ball on New Zealand’s pitches and couldn’t make an impact that the Indian cricket fans are used to seeing from him.
Many pundits and fans have started questioning his technique after one bad tour and this has come as a shock for the former Pakistani captain Inzamam Ul Haq. Virat Kohli is, arguably, the best and most consistent batsman of the last decade and his numbers are nothing short of extraordinary and it is shocking, to say the least, that one bad series has triggered debates on his technique on television screens, social media and everywhere else.
Slamming all those who are questioning Virat Kohli’s technique, former Pakistani skipper Inzamam Ul Haq said that he is amazed by all the talks that are happening around Kohli’s technique.
“A lot of people are talking about Kohli’s technique etc. I am amazed by all this talk. He has scored 70- centuries, now how can you question his technique,” said Inzamam Ul Haq in his Youtube channel.
Inzy said that every player goes through a lean patch when despite his best efforts, runs don’t come.
“As a cricketer, I can say that players will encounter a phase when, despite his best efforts, runs do not come. Yusuf has a high backlift; it used to come from the gully when his bad form came, people started questioning him. He came to me; I said, how did you score so many runs with the same technique,” former Pakistani skipper added.
“Team is not being able to perform. If Virat Kohli is failing what about the other players, this is just part and parcel of the game and it should be accepted in that particular way,” Inzamam added further.
