Indian Cricket Fans Express Their Sadness After Rohit Sharma Was Ruled Out Of ODIs And Tests

Cricket LoungeBy Cricket Lounge03/02/2020Updated:09/02/2023No Comments3 Mins Read

In a big blow to the Indian cricket team, swashbuckling opener, and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out for the remainder of India’s tour of New Zealand. After sustaining a calf injury during the fifth T20 International in Mount Maunganui, Rohit Sharma walked off from the ground and now it has been confirmed that he will not take part in the ODI and Test series against the Blackcaps. However, it has still not been ascertained whether Rohit has had a calf muscle tear but he looked in severe pain even after physio Nitin Patel attended to him.

“He is out of the tour. Right now, it’s not looking good. The physio is assessing him. We will get to know how bad it is but he is not taking any further part in the series,” a top BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Rohit Sharma’s injury is a mighty blow for the Indian cricket team as he is the in-form batsman and his experience at the top of the order would have made a big difference for the visiting team. Rohit would be gutted with this unfortunate injury because he is looking to cement his place in India’s Test team as an opener and it could have been a great opportunity for him to do so.

It is being reported that Mayank Agrawal will replace injured Rohit Sharma and join Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul as India’s opening options. Mayank Agrawal is also a very exciting young batsman but, presently, it is also impossible to replace Rohit Sharma in India’s ODI playing XI because he is the best opening batsman in the world and bowling attacks around the world fear him for his destructive style of batting.

We wish ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma a speedy recovery. The Indian cricket team is incomplete without his class, destructive batting and calm mind.
