Virat Kohli is just another name for records, isn’t it? Virat in the first One Day International against the kiwi of this home season scored yet another handsome ton. He once again endorsed as to why he is simply the best gamer in the game of cricket. He smashed a handsome century as he scored 121 from 125 balls when India needed their captain to lead from the front. As the top order fell Kohli took the onus of guiding India to an above par total.

With this century at Wankhede against the Kiwis Kohli has now gone up to the second spot in terms of number of One Day International Hundreds and now he is just behind the Master Blaster. Kohli with this elegant hundred surpassed the former Aussie captain, Ricky Ponting and pushed him to the third spot.

Kohli today earned himself his 31st One Day Hundred and we can’t just believe how he dedicated to himself this achievement at such a young age! While Ponting has 30 hundreds in 375 matches Virat outnumbered him in just his 200th ODI.

What a great occasion to achieve a new milestone! Now Virat Kohli is only behind Sachin who has 49 ODI hundreds to his kitty. Isn’t this just amazing? Is he even human? Who scores 31 hundreds in 200 matches? Well, VK does.

THIS IS NOT JUST THE ONLY RECORD THAT CHANGED AT WANKHEDE

Virat Kohli surpassing Ricky Ponting isn’t just the only thing that happened at Wankhede. Kohli now also holds the record for most ODI runs in a calendar year for India in the capacity of a skipper.

This record, before the first ODI against the New Zealand, was in the name of the legendry former skipper Mohammad Azharuddin who in 1998 scored 1268 runs in just 33 innings. Virat has scripted this record too to his name as his tally of runs scored this year stands at 1318 in just  24 innings and with 5 tons.

Besides defeating Azhar he is now only the third in the list of most ODI runs in a calendar year. While Ricky Ponting is the first with a tally of 1424 runs in 2007 Pakistan’s former Captain, Misbah is at the second spot having scored 1373 runs in 2013.

He also became the 6th Indian to have accumulated 1000 ODI runs against the Black Caps and only the 27th overall to have scored 1000 ODI runs against New Zealand. Kohli has managed to score 1000 runs against Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka before this and New Zealand is the latest in the list.

Wait! There is more! He also became only the second cricketer in the world to have hit a ton in his 200th ODI. Any guesses who is the first one? It was South Africa’s ace batsman and Virat Kohli’s good friend AB de Villiers.

How many records will Virat Kohli make fall flat on their face? Well, we wish him more luck and more power and we are sure that soon every batting record would be known by his name.

Take a bow, Virat Kohli.
