MS Dhoni promoted himself up the batting order at number 4 in the third match of the ongoing One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand, at Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali.

Dhoni, who was under a lot of pressure to score runs, showed great character and formed a match-winning partnership with Virat Kohli while chasing a tricky target of 286 runs. Dhoni came ahead of Manish Pandey in the batting order and played aggressively right from the start of his innings. Dhoni usually takes time to settle down early on in his innings, but he made a special effort to keep the score board ticking in this innings.
