VIDEO: Gautam Gambhir’s two consecutive sixes off Matt Henry’s bowling

Gautam Gambhir made a comeback to Test cricket after 2 long years, in the third and final Test of the ongoing series against New Zealand. Gambhir, who was called in as a replacement for KL Rahul, opened the innings with Murali Vijay and scored 29 runs off 53 balls.

Gambhir looked very solid in the middle while he lasted and played some attacking strokes. The most impressive part of Gautam Gambhir’s innings was the over in which he pulled New Zealand’s fast bowler Matt Henry for two consecutive sixes. For a moment, we all thought that Gambhir will score big but he failed to convert the start into a big one.

Gautam Gambhir will get another chance to bat in the second innings and he will have to score big to retain his place in the team. KL Rahul is recovering from an injury and he will soon be available for selection and if a score of some value will keep Gambhir in contention for the opening slot.

Gambhir has been scoring runs at the domestic level and also in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his fans believe that he still has 3-4 years of cricket left in him. But to keep himself in contention for the opening spot, Gambhir will have to make most of the opportunity that he will get in the second innings. He will have to put a big score on the board to push the selectors and stay in the squad.

It’s not going to be an easy ride from here for Gautam Gambhir but his fans will be hoping that he scores big in the second innings and answer his critics with the bat.
