“If Choking Is An Art…”: Funniest Memes After RCB’s Massive Loss To MI In WPL 2023

It seems like the rule of nature that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans will have to suffer no matter whether it is their men’s team or the women’s team. After years of heartbreaks and disappointments in the men’s IPL, RCB kicked off their Women’s Premier League (WPL) journey with frustrations and more disappointments as the Smriti Mandhana-led unit has suffered back-to-back defeats.

And these are not just mere losses for RCB; they have been annihilated, humbled, embarrassed, DEFEATED: first by 60 runs by Delhi Capitals and then by 9 wickets by Mumbai Indians.

The bowling of the RCB women’s team has been as much non-threatening and disastrous as it was with the men’s team for 14 years.

It is also to point out that Smriti Mandhana got both of her decisions at the toss utterly poor: at the DY Patil Stadium against DC she elected to bowl under bright sunshine in the afternoon game before Lanning and Shafali powered DC to 223. Then, at the Brabourne Stadium, in the evening game with dew imminent, Smriti elected to bat first. RCB scored 155, which MI gunned down with 9 wickets in hand and almost 6 overs to spare.

RCB’s NRR after defeats in their first two matches has pummeled to -3.176, only slightly better than -3.765 of the Gujarat Giants who lost their first match by 146 runs to MI.

As expected, memes galore on the internet with such shambolic performances and decision-making from RCB and their captain Smriti Mandhana, whose bowling changes have also been questionable.

Here are some of the funniest memes on RCB and RCB fans’ misery:

RCB

Speaking after the loss to MI, captain Smriti Mandhana said: “We could have learnt to put down a better score. We have to accept this defeat and come back better. 2-3 batters got into 20s but could not make it count including myself. We do have a good bowling side, we have 6-7 bowling options and we can’t say much to the bowlers when the batters are not putting up the runs. It is a pretty short tournament and we can’t dwell on it, even in franchise cricket if you start winning then you can go on a run. Lots of positives in the form of Kanika and Shriyanka’s batting after the top order collapse, really happy with the way they batted.”

RCB’s next match is on March 8 against Gujarat Giants.
