Virat Kohli Tells How He will Know When It Is Time To Retire

Virat Kohli is not even 29 years old and he has broken some of the biggest records in cricket. In One Day International (ODI) cricket, Virat has already smashed 32 hundreds and he is number 2 in the list of most number of hundreds in ODI cricket, only behind his idol and former teammate Sachin Tendulkar.

Many believe that the way Virat Kohli is batting and keeping himself fit for every game, he will break the great Sachin Tendulkar’s records in ODI cricket. Kohli has motivated the new generation of Indian cricketers to work hard on their fitness. These days, we see almost every Indian cricketer working hard in the gym and then sweating out in practise sessions.

Recently, Virat Kohli gave a very candid interview to Gaurav Kapoor in the latest episode of ‘Breakfast with Champions’. The Indian captain spoke very candidly and he was very comfortable talking about matters related to cricket and off it.

Virat is still very young and far away from his retirement, but the Indian captain spoke about it

“The motivation is just about winning. The day the passion ends, I will stop playing. I’ll never want to drag myself for more than my body can take”, Virat Kohli said.

He also conceded that there had been days when he used to wake up with a sense of detachment to what he was doing. “When the feeling of pushing oneself back from failure subsides and the ability to try yet again stops, continuing from there on is impossible for a sportsperson. I’ll stop playing when I will feel I am just standing on the field without the passion and energy of winning, when the game becomes “more of a participation thing”. If I can’t contribute to the team, I won’t continue, the Indian captain added.
