Video: Irfan Pathan Smashed A Humungous Six In LLCT20

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been bossing the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2023 – the 3-team tournament happening in Doha in which several ex-cricketers take part.

While India Maharajas have failed to qualify straight for the final – they will have another opportunity, though, to reach the final when they meet the team that finishes 2nd in the league stage – Irfan Pathan entertained the Indian fans with some sparkling sixes, including one gigantic hit to West Indies pacer Tino Best, who is playing for World Giants.

In the match between India Maharajas and World Giants on Wednesday at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, Irfan Pathan clobbered two gigantic sixes, one to Tino Best and another to off-spinner Ricardo Powell, both landing deep into the crowd, during his quickfire cameo of 25 runs, helping India reach the respectable total of 136 runs.

Against Tino Best, Irfan Pathan gave himself a little bit of room and, using his timing and power and free-flowing bat swing, smoked the length delivery on the leg-side, way beyond the deep mid-wicket fielder. Then, to a full ball from off-spinner Ricardo Powell, Pathan hammered the delivery, once again using his almighty power, over long-on, and once again, the ball was launched high in the sky, and deep in the stands.

In 4 matches so far in the tournament, Irfan Pathan has scored 47 runs at a strike rate of 146 and has taken a couple of wickets while keeping the economy down under 8 runs per over.

Against the World Giants on Wednesday, India Maharajas’ score of 136 didn’t prove enough as Aaron Finch’s team won by 3 wickets, chasing down the total with 8 balls to spare. Chris Gayle was in his element and whacked 57 runs while Shane Watson scored 26.

India Maharajas, led by Gautam Gambhir, won only 1 of their 4 league matches, while Asia Lions and World Giants both emerged victorious in 2 matches of the 3 each they have played so far. Asia Lions are being led by former Pakistani great Shahid Afridi.
