He walked out to bat in the 4th over of the game and made a blockbuster entry by opening his account with a stunning six. He looked comfortable in the middle as he smashed the Punjab bowlers to all the corners of the ground. He played a brilliant knock of 42 runs off 25 balls, smashing 5 fours and 1 six.

During his stunning innings, he surpassed the record of former RR player Ajinkya Rahane, who had smashed 3098 runs to become the leading run-getter for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Sanju has now scored over 3138 runs for the franchise with 2 hundred and 18 half-centuries in the league at a strike rate of 137.99 in 118 matches.

Shane Watson: 2474 runs (84 matches)
Jos Buttler: 2378 runs (60 matches)
Rahul Dravid: 1324 runs (52 matches)

Sanju Samson joined was roped in by Rajasthan Royals in 2013 and immediately made an impact with the bat while playing under Dravid’s captaincy as RR reached the playoffs for the first time since 2008. When RR was suspended for two years, Samson played for Delhi Capitals.

Samson joined Rajasthan again in the 2018 auction for a whopping Rs. 8 crores on him and defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) to his signing after a massive bidding war. He was named as Rajasthan’s captain in 2021 and he then led his side to IPL 2023 final for the first time since their 2008 triumph in 2022.
