SRK Teaches Virat Kohli Pathaan’s Viral Dance Step: On Thursday (April 6), Kolkata Knight Riders opened their IPL 2023 account with an 81-run rout of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The home team scored 204-7 before bowling out the visitors from Bangalore for 123 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a strong start with the bat to chase a massive total of 205, and their star openers, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, did just that. Despite promising beginnings, none of them were able to finish the race. In less than five overs, the pair put up 44 runs before Sunil Narine castled Kohli for 21.

In the eighth over, after RCB was 44 without loss, du Plessis was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy for 23. He was followed by the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell for five and Harshal Patel for zero. Then, in the ninth over, Narine struck again to dismiss Shahbaz Ahmed, reducing the visitors to 61/5.

Michael Bracewell and Dinesh Karthik put up 22 runs for the sixth wicket to keep things steady before Bracewell’s dismissal triggered another collapse. Debutant Suyash Sharma quickly reduced RCB to 96 for 9 with three wickets. Then, David Willey and Akash Deep got them over the century mark and helped the total look respectable until Chakravarthy came back to the attack and dismissed Deep. After a long innings, RCB were dismissed for 123.

In the first innings, Kolkata Knight Riders batted first and posted a mammoth score of 204 for 7 in the allowed 20 overs after being reduced to 89 for 5 in the 12th -. KKR got off to a good start after Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer scored 26 runs off the first three overs, RCB took the lead when Iyer and Mandeep Singh were dismissed by David Willey in quick succession in the fourth over. Nitish Rana, captain of the losing side, did not survive long either, scoring only 1 before returning with his team down 47-3.

For a time, Gurbaz and Rinku Singh were able to stem the tide, but it wasn’t until Karn Sharma dismissed a well-set Gurbaz for 57 and Andre Russell for a duck on consecutive deliveries that RCB regained the upper hand. At 89 for 5 in the 12th over, it seemed like the hosts would be lucky to reach 150.

Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh put up 103 runs for the sixth wicket, which turned the game around. Thakur utterly demolished the RCB bowling, scoring a fifty off just 20 balls—tied for the fastest fifty of the current season. In the end, he scored 68 runs off 29 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. In contrast, Rinku had a 46.

Meanwhile, after the match, the owner of KKR and Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan and Virat were seen having a fun chat. Both the superstars hugged each other before SRK convinced Kohli to try the viral steps from the Jhoome Jo Pathaan song from the blockbuster movie Pathaan.
