IPL 2017: Mumbai Indians’ mentor Sachin Tendulkar praised young Indian talent in the ongoing tenth season of Indian Premier League (IPL 2017), in a pre-match interview before the final between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant in Hyderabad.
Sachin, who is busy in the promotion of his upcoming biopic, praised his team’s young batsman Nitish Rana, who played some spectacular match-winning innings for Mumbai Indians in the first half of the tournament. Sachin said that Nitish’s ability to play his natural game under critical situations, impressed him the most.
Sachin also heaped praises on Delhi Daredevils’ young wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Sachin said that Rishabh is a very aggressive batsman and he plays the game with a lot of flair. Sachin had also praised Rishabh Pant after his match winning innings of 97 runs off 43 balls against The Gujarat Lions, on Twitter. Sachin called it one of the best innings in the history of Indian Premier League.
Sachin, during his interview with IPL anchor Sameer Kochhar, said that Rishabh Pant is a combination of two of India’s most attacking batsmen. The Little Master said that Rishabh Pant is a combination of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina.
“He [Pant] is a combination of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina. The way he picks up the length and stands is so similar to these two,” Sachin Tendulkar said.
This is a big statement for young Rishabh, who is making headlines for all the right reasons. He was Delhi’s leading run-scorer in the domestic season 2016/17 and impressed one and all with his outstanding display of attacking batting in IPL 2017. Many fans and pundits believe that Rishabh is the one who will replace MS Dhoni after he decides to hang his boots. And there is also belief among Indian cricket fans that he is going to be the next big thing in Indian cricket.
