India’s premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has once again climbed the summit as he toppled West Indies’ Jason Holder to claim the numero uno position as ICC men’s Test rankings following his staggering one-man show in Mohali against Sri Lanka.

Ravindra Jadeja slammed his career-best score of 175* before taking out 9 Sri Lankan wickets with the ball, helping India to a massive innings-and-222-run win. Holder had been at the No. 1 spot since February 2021.

Ravindra Jadeja becomes the number 1 Test all-rounder for the second time

This is the second time Ravindra Jadeja has become the top-ranked Test all-rounder: he was No.1 for a week in August 2017. Jadeja also moved up three places to No.17 on the bowling rankings, and from 54th to 37th on the batting charts.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who went past Kapil Dev’s tally of 434 Test wickets to become India’s second-leading Test wicket-taker, is third in the Test all-rounders rankings and second in Test bowling rankings.

In the batting department, Virat Kohli, who scored 45 runs in his 100th Test, moved ahead two spots on the batting rankings to No. 5, one spot above Rohit Sharma. Rishabh Pant, who blasted 96 runs off 97 balls, entered the top 10, pushing out David Warner.

Marnus Labuchagne, who scored a fifty in the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan, continues to lead the Test batting charts, while Pat Cummins remains the top-ranked Test bowler.

Further from the Rawalpindi Test, which ended in a dull draw with batters making it a run-fest, opener Imam-ul-Haq, who scored centuries in both the innings, moved up to a career-best 63rd. Senior batter Azhar Ali, who scored 185, moved up by ten places to sit at No. 12.

Test cricket will further hog the limelight with the England-West Indies series having kick-started on Tuesday, followed by the second Test match of the India-Sri Lanka series and the Pakistan-Australia series.
