IPL 2017: AB de Villiers will captain RCB in Virat Kohli’s absence

IPL 2017: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli is injured and he is lily to miss the first few matches of IPL 2017. RCB’s head coach Daniel Vettori, while speaking to the media, said that AB de Villiers will lead the side in Kohli’s absence.

“He will come in on April 2. Between now and then, the BCCI doctors and physio will speak to us and our medical staff will get a clearer picture. Right now, we don’t have a clear picture on his availability. We’ll know in the next few days.

“The likely scenario is that AB de Villiers will take over the duties, but we’ll answer that once we find out if Virat is out,” Daniel Vettori said.

Kohli injured his shoulder while fielding in the third Test of the recently concluded Test series between Australia and India. Kohli landed heavily on his right shoulder while trying to save a boundary. He didn’t play in the fourth Test in Dharamshala because he wasn’t 100% fit and still his injury can take a week to heal.
