Video: SRH Fans Gave A Beautiful Welcome To David Warner

Australian star opener David Warner returned to his ‘home’ city in Hyderabad for the IPL 2023 encounter between Delhi Capitals and SRH, David Warner’s previous franchise.

He had unceremoniously been sacked and then released by the SRH management in 2021, but the SRH crowd still continues to love and adore the pocket dynamo.

So there was a huge roar from the Hyderabad crowd when the DC skipper Warner won the toss, almost as if a home captain had won the toss, and elected to field first against SRH.

When asked about this raucous reception, the left-hander said: “My mindset is to thank the crowd, they’ve been a great support. For me, it’s about entertaining them. Absolutely love this venue, I owe it to the fans. Sarfaraz Khan comes in and Ripal Patel is in. I owe it to the curator, you have to start well.”

David Warner captained SRH to their only title in 2016

While Warner has been among runs, his strike rate has been an issue as the Delhi Capitals’ batting order has fumbled time and again this season. They lost their first 5 matches before bouncing back with a tight victory over KKR. Warner cracked his 4th fifty of the season in 6 matches.

Then, against SRH, though, Warner couldn’t bring out his best and again was sluggish in his slow start before being dismissed for 21 off 20 balls with 2 fours.

SRH have stumbled to 58/4 in 7.4 overs, at the time of writing.
