Fans Slam CSK For Not Giving Suresh Raina A Proper Farewell From IPL

Suresh Raina

For more than a decade in the IPL the name of Suresh Raina was as synonymous with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as it was of MS Dhoni with the franchise. For his heroics with the bat and his consistency, Suresh Raina earned the nickname of Mr. IPL.

He played 11 seasons for CSK, winning all of their 4 IPL trophies in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021, and led the Gujarat Lions in the couple of seasons in 2016 and 2017 when CSK were banned.

Overall, in his IPL career, Raina is the 5th leading run-scorer, having amasssed 5528 runs in 205 IPL matches at an average if 21 and struke rate of 136 with the help of 39 fifties and 1 century.

His last IPL match came in the IPL 2021. He couldn’t play in the playoffs and the final that season owing to an injury.

Raina then shockingly went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. He then was part of the tournament as a commentator and later in the year, announced his retirement from the IPL and all forms of cricket under BCCI. Ths retirement from Indian cricket allowed Raina to participate in the Legends League and T10 leagues, etc.

With MS Dhoni now hinting his retirement in the IPL 2023, fans wonderd that Former CSK Batsmen should have also gotten some appreciation on his retirement from CSK, a little more than social media posts.

The fact that Suresh Raina didn’t get a proper retirement from CSK has hurt his fans who are slamming CSK for not giving a farwell to the left-handed batting stalwart.

Here are some tweets of fans of Suresh Raina slamming CSK:

I have nothing to say sir.
Grown-up individuals will understand who did what.

Can fight with the management for Jadeja, can say Rayudu to come out of retirement, but raina pe baat aati hai toh srinivasan is the head and he has done it🤣

CSK was emotion when Raina, Dhoni, Ashwin, Jaddu & Bravo used to play together.
Now it's only Dhoni & after his retirement only tamil fans will be left & most probably Jaddu will join Gujrat Titans.

MS Dhoni hints at retirement in IPL 2023

Meanwhile, CSK captain MS Dhoni has all but confirmed that the IPL 2023 is going to be his last IPL season. He admitted he’s in the last phase of his career and thanked the crowds that have thronged at all venues to give him a farwell.

Suresh Raina

“[I am] Definitely old, you know, you can’t really shy away from that. Whatever said and done, it’s [the] last phase of my career,” the  41-year-old said.

“However long I play, it’s very important to enjoy the IPL. After two years, it has been a case where they [the crowd] can come [and] enjoy the game. It’s a full house, they have the new stand, so it feels good to play here. And I said at the start of the tournament, we haven’t played in Chennai a lot, we have only played like six seasons. So it feels good to be here. They have given a lot of love and affection, and they always stay back to hear me out.”
