Batting superstar Rohit Sharma has been struggling to score runs in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, with his average being below 20. This is the second consecutive season that Rohit has failed to leave a mark with the bat.
Rohit Sharma registered 2nd consecutive duck

In the previous edition of the IPL, Rohit had managed to score only 268 runs in 14 games in Mumbai Indians’ forgettable season, averaging just 19.14 without a single half-century score. While he has managed to score a half-century once in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, he has averaged only 18.40 in 10 innings, scoring 184 runs.
On Saturday, Rohit continued with his disastrous form in the season as he incurred his second consecutive duck in the tournament leading to widespread criticism from all corners. And the latest one to attack Rohit is India legend, Kris Srikkanth.
During the game against CSK, Rohit fell prey to MS Dhoni’s stunning trap in the third over of Mumbai’s innings after being asked to bat first. After playing a few mind games with Rohit, Dhoni stood close to the stumps against a delivery from Deepak Chahar.
This was Rohit’s second consecutive duck in IPL 2023 after having faced a similar in the Mohali game against Punjab Kings. In fact, Rohit has only scored 5 runs in the 4 innings.
Kris Srikkanth passed a bold remark
Moments after Rohit was dismissed, Srikkanth passed a savage remark on the MI skipper while on commentary, calling him “Not Hit Sharma”. He said:
“Rohit Sharma should change his name to ‘NO HIT SHARMA’, I will not even play him in XI if I was Captain of MI.”
With this duck Rohit has created an unwanted record in the IPL history, having recorded his 16th ‘no score’, which is now the most by any batter in the league’s history. Sharma has now surpassed Sunil Narine, Mandeep Singh, and Dinesh Karthik, who were at the top of the list of players with the most ducks alongside Rohit before the MI vs CSK game started.
