For the unversed, Rahul sustained the injury in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 1. It happened in the second over of the game when Rahul was chasing a ball in the outfield. He clutched at his thigh and then limped off the field. The way Rahul pulled up at the boundary it was clear that he has suffered a serious injury.

He was immediately given medical assistance. Rahul had to leave the field, and the keeper-bat did not return until the chase of 127 runs got intense.

Rahul walked out to bat at number 11 in a bid to get his team past the finish line. He was unable to run between the wickets, which eventually resulted in Amit Mishra facing every single ball of the final over against RCB.

RCB won that game by 18 runs.

KL Rahul was later replaced by Krunal Pandya as LSG’s captain for the remaining games of the ongoing season. While BCCI named Ishan Kishan as his replacement for the upcoming World Test Championship 2023.
