IPL 2023 Final: The final clash of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, which was scheduled to be played on Sunday, was washed out because of heavy rain in Ahmedabad and was eventually moved to Reserve Day. A heavy downpour throughout the evening delayed the toss and then the start of the game as well.
The announcement of the game being washed out was made at 10:55 PM IST, implying the final match between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on the reserve day, i.e, on Monday, May 29th.
But the forecast for rain remains the same on Monday as well. With this, the question remains – what if the Reserve Day also gets washed out?
Well, the weather in Ahmedabad hasn’t been good over the last few days. In fact, the Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans was also delayed because of the rain. The ground staff did a great job, however, the continuous rain denied the same on the final clash and the fans had to return back home.
There was a little hope around 9:00 PM IST when the rain had completely stopped, the covers were off, the players were out for practice and so were the umpires to inspect the pitch. But it was just for a few moments as the rain started pouring again.
Weather prediction for IPL 2023 Final on Monday:

According to the weather forecast, there is a prediction of a thunderstorm around 5 PM IST which is expected to last about an hour. But there is no forecast of rain during the match hours, implying a full possibility of a 20-over game.
What if reserve day is also washed out?
The rules of the reserve day also remain the same as it was on Sunday. 9:35 PM IST will be the time when overs will start getting reduced, with a possibility of a 5-overs contest as late as 12:06 AM IST. Further, there will be a chance to settle the final match with a Super Over for which the outfield and the pitch must be ready latest by 1.20 AM IST.
