Sachin Tendulkar Reveals One Key Advice He Gave Son Arjun Before His IPL Debut

“Pay attention to your game” is one ky advice that the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has given his son Arjun Tendulkar in his formative years which has helped the youngster in his journey to the IPL.

In IPL 2023, after being on the bench for two seasons, left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar got to make his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians.

Used predominantly as a new ball swing bowler, Arjun Tendulkar picked up 3 wickets in the 9.5 overs he bowled across 4 matches for MI this season. However, he was a bit expensive, leaking at over 9 runs an over.

In a recent public event, Sachin Tendulkar spoke of how pleasant and supportive the environment was at his home while he was growing up. And he’s tried to replicate the same for his son Arjun.

“I am trying to create the same environment which was created for me. When you appreciate yourself, people will appreciate you. Pay attention to your game as what my father used to say, and now I am telling Arjun,” Sachin told during a book launch event of ‘Scintillating Sachin’.

“I got the support from my family. Ajit Tendulkar (brother) was instrumental in finding a solution. Nitin Tendulkar (brother) made the painting for me on my birthday. My mother was working in LIC, while my father was a professor. They gave me freedom. I urge parents to give freedom to their children as well,” he said.

During the IPL 2023, there was a huge media attraction around Arjun Tendulkar as the 23-year-old made his IPL debut. But the media didn’t hassle and kept a distance, allowing the space and freedom to the youngster, for which Sachin thanked the media personnel.

“The media felicitated me when I retired from the game. At that time, I had requested the media to give the required space to Arjun and let him fall in love with Cricket. The journalists gave him the freedom, so I thank them for this,” the 50-year-old added.
