Shubman Gill has become a sensation in the cricketing world, all thanks to his solid performances for Team India and in the recently-concluded IPL 2023 as well. He is poised to inherit the legacy of the Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli and establish his dominance across all formats in the coming years.
He has already smashed 5 international centuries, including a maiden ton in the shortest format of the game and a record-breaking double century in the ODI format. Adding more to his accolades, Gill scored 3 centuries in the recently-concluded 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

As the cricketing world joins the ongoing debate surrounding Gill’s potential, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that Gill’s batting style is more like Tendulkar rather than Kohli’s. He said:
“Sachin was also a very organized batter. If I compare Sachin and Virat, the latter still has some weaknesses. He was out of form when he went to England (in 2014). James Anderson troubled him a lot outside the off stump and he had not answers to it. He was a total flop in that series,”
“I feel Gill’s technique is similar to Tendulkar. It is very difficult to get him out at this point of time. There seems to be no weakness in his game. Virat and Sachin both are legends. I have played with both, but Kohli has his weaknesses,”
He added: “Gill is on the path of becoming a great like Sachin when it comes to technique and mental strength,”
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill is currently in London, gearing up for the most significant match of his career thus far—the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia. The much-awaited summit clash will take start from June 7th at The Oval in London.
