It has been a good day for the Indian cricket team so far as they are facing the mighty Australians on Day 1 of the ongoing World Test Championship Final 2023 at The Oval in London. Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first at the all-important game worked out in favor of the Indian cricket team.

As the game kickstarted, Team India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first as he expected the pitch to remain the same during the five-day contest. Though, his decision raised eyebrows but it worked well for the Indian side as Siraj sent Khawaja packing in the fourth over.

Soon, Mohammed Shami also opened his account and his first victim was none other than Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.

Yes, opening his account in the final of the ICC World Test Championship against Australia, veteran pacer Shami bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss the in-form Marnus. Shami’s trademark seam position was on display as he outplayed Marnus with an absolute ripper. The batter left enough gap between bat and pad for the ball to see the stumps disturbed.

The video of Labuschagne’s dismissal was shared by the official account of the ICC. Watch the video here:

Interestingly, a day before the WTC Final 2023, Marnus had expressed his admiration towards the senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami when the top-ranked batter was asked about Shami’s bowling brilliant. Now a day after, Shami has managed to get rid of Marnus.

Talking about the game, before he was dismissed Labuschagne batted brilliantly on Day 1 of the WTC final against India as Australia reached 73/2 at Lunch.

Earlier, while Siraj got the better of Australian opener Khawaja, all-rounder Shardul Thakur dismissed David Warner in the 22nd over of the innings.
