Jasprit Bumrah Comeback: Dinesh Karthik With Latest Update On The Fast Bowler

Jasprit Bumrah comeback: Team India is clearly missing their main man with the ball, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, in the ongoing WTC Final 2023 against Australia at the Oval as the Aussies have piled up 469 runs in their first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action since September last year, due to his back injury, for which he underwent a surgery in March this year.

While there is no official word from the BCCI about Jasprit Bumrah‘s comeback, senior India cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who is a commentator in the WTC Final, has an update for fans on Bumrah’s injury and his recovery status.

When will Jasprit Bummrah return? Will he play in the World Cup 2023?

Jasprit Bumrah comeback

Dinesh Karthik recently revealed that Jasprit Bumrah is targeting a return in the T20I series against Ireland in August. If his recovery his complete even by September, he is likely to play in the World Cup 2023 at home.

India are scheduled to tour Ireland for 3 T20Is in August. A second-string squad is expected to be selected for this Ireland tour to keep the first-choice players fresh for the important ODI series. Jasprit Bumrah could tag along with this squad in order to make his comeback.

The Ireland T20I series in August could pave the way for Jasprit Bumrah comeback.

After undergoing a surgery in New Zealand in March, the 29-year-old commenced his rehab in April. The surgery was successful and Bumrah was said to be “pain-free”, by the BCCI, whose plan is to have fit and ready for the World Cup 2023, which will start in October.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri recently expressed his frustration with a number of Indian bowlers getting injured in the past couple of years and missing plenty of important cricket.

“Let’s put it this way: there are quite a few in the last three or four years who are permanent residents of the NCA,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo’s T20 Time:Out show. “Soon, they’ll get a resident permit there to walk in any time they want, which is not a good thing at all. It’s unreal.”
