Australian Journalist Calls Steve Smith “King” And Insults Virat Kohli

All eyes were on Virat Kohli as the Indian cricket team entered the field on Day 5 of the ongoing World Test Championship Final 2023 at The Oval in London. Virat, who failed to deliver in the first innings, batted solidly in the second innings on Day 4, however, he failed to make it big when it mattered the most.

During India’s second innings on Day 5, Virat was on the crease alongside Ajinkya Rahane and making steady runs. However, Kohli lost his wicket, falling one run short of his half-century. Virat was caught by Steve Smith in the slips. The cricketer was facing a ball by Scott Boland. Virat made 49 runs off 78 balls before he was dismissed.

The Indian cricket team is now in a difficult position and it looks impossible to defeat the mighty Australians from this position.

Australian Journalist Insulted Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli

Meanwhile, the Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling after his dismissal. Among many, an Australian journalist who goes by the username ‘Dennis Cricket’ on Twitter insulted Virat with a sarcastic tweet.

In his Tweet, Dennis compared Virat Kohli with the Australian superstar batter Steve Smith, who registered a century in the ongoing WTC Final to help his team post a huge total of 469 runs in the first innings. He also praised him for the screamer that he took to dismiss Kohli. However, Dennis insulted Kohli while praising Smith. He wrote:

Makes a 100 and takes a screamer.
One is the true King and performed when it mattered most.
The other made RCB a laughing stock.

For the unversed, Steve Smith played an instrumental role in Australia’s successful performance in the ongoing game. He scored 121 runs on Day 2 of the World Test Championship final at The Oval, in London. Riding on his stellar knock, Australia posted a total of 469 runs on the scoreboard.
