Ashes 2023

The Ashes 2023 series will kick-start on Friday, June 16, at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The Ashes is the oldest cricketing rivalry and one of the most passionate ones among the fans and players. Playing and winning the Ashes is the ultimate goal for a Test cricketer in England and Australia.

The upcoming the Ashes Cup 2023 will star some of the all time great players on both sides. Interestingly, there are a couple of players who were born in England but are part of the Australian team for the Ashes Cup 2023.

Here are 2 England-born players who will feature for Australia in Ashes 2023:

Matt Renshaw

Matt Renshaw

Matt Renshaw was born in 1996 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire and also holds a British passport. He moved with his family to New Zealand at the age of 7, and then to Australia at age 10.

Having made his Test debut in 2016, left-handed batsman Renshaw has had a topsy-turvy Test career so far and he’s never been able to cement his place in the side. He’s featured in 14 Tests and averages 29, comprising of 1 century and 3 fifties.

His last game came in the India tour earlier this year. Renshaw is unlikely to start in the Ashes, but could get a place in the side if David Warner fails to fire in the first 2-3 games.

Josh Inglis

Josh Inglis is the back-up keeper to Alex Carey ever since Carey became the first-choice keeper following Tim Paine’s stepping down ahead of the last Ashes in 2021/22. Inglis is uncapped at Test level and would get a game only if Carey misses out.

Inglis was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, in 1995 and moved to Australia where he was 14 years old.
