Virat Kohli is regarded as one of the greatest batters to have played the game. He is also India’s most successful Test captain.

He smashed his first hundred in Tests in 2012 when he scored 116 runs against Australia in Adelaide. So far, he has played 109 Test matches and has amassed 8479 runs at an average of 48.72. He has scored 28 centuries and 28 fifties during his glorious career. He gave consistent performances with the bat and became the number 1 ranked ICC Test batter in 2018. He held on to the spot for an extended period of time as he ruled the international cricket.

Kohli’s first assignment as captain of the Indian cricket team was also in the Test format when he took over the captaincy reigns from MS Dhoni in 2014. He along with the then-head coach Ravi Shastri made the Indian cricket team a mighty force and dominated all the opposition countries by winning in their own backyards. Under his captaincy tenure, the Indian cricket team had many big wins, including their first-ever series win in Australia during the 2018-19 tour.
