It’s time for a new beginning as the BCCI has made some big changes in the Indian Test squad following India’s heartbreaking defeat in the World Test Championship Final 2023 for the second straight time. On Friday announced the much-awaited Test and ODI squads for the upcoming West Indies tour.

Ruturaj Gaikwad And Yashasvi Jaiswal Earn Their Maiden Call-Ups

The BCCI has finally decided to move on from the senior players after the WTC final 2023 defeat. The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami have been removed from the Test format. On the other hand, some young talent has earned a call-up from the Indian board. Gaikwad, Jaiswal, and Mukesh Kumar have earned maiden Test call-ups for the Test series.

Yashasvi and Ruturaj, who have been making sensations in the cricketing world with their consistent performances, have finally received their maiden calls for their upcoming series.

For the unversed, Gaikwad was earlier shortlisted as the stand-by player for WTC Final but he pulled out his name because of his marriage. He was replaced by Jaiswal who took the flight to London. The Southpaw spent time with team India after his scintillating show in IPL 2023 for Rajasthan Royals.

The upcoming two-match Test series is going to be a great opportunity for the young duo as one of them will surely get a place in the playing XI after Pujara’s omission from the squad.

R Ashwin Wrote A Special Message For Ruturaj And Yashasvi

Meanwhile, senior bowler R Ashwin took to his social media and sent his best wishes to the young duo who are all set to start their new journey. He wrote:

“So very happy for @ybj_19 & @Ruutu1331. Well deserved 👏👏 #INDvsWI”
