The third Test match of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series between England and Australia kicked off at the Headlingky in Leeds on Thursday. Riding on the stellar century by all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, the Australian cricket team posted a total of 263 runs in the first innings.
Mitchell Marsh, who was returning to the Test team after a long gap of four years, made a memorable comeback as he slammed his third century in the Test format. It was in the 2019 Ashes series when Marsh played his last Test match before returning to the side for the ongoing series. Marsh was called back to the team after all-rounder Cameron Green was ruled out because of a hamstring injury.
Mitchell Marsh walked out to bat for Australia when his team was struggling at 85/4 in the first session, however, he didn’t let the pressure get to his head and affect his game. He defied all odds and smashed the England bowlers to all the corners of the ground.
He formed a brilliant partnership with Travis Head and took the Australian team past 200. He reached the triple-figure mark off just 102 balls in the 48th over. He struck 15 fours and 3 sixes en route to his century. He was eventually dismissed after scoring 118 runs off 118 balls. His stunning knock was laced with 17 fours and 4 sixes.

Meanwhile, a video featuring Mitchell’s elder brother Shaun Marsh, who has also played at the highest level for many years – including the Ashes, has gone viral. In the video, Shaun can be seen celebrating the big moment wildly with other members of their family at a restaurant.
In the video, Shaun roared loudly and hugged his family members, including his father Geoff Marsh. Interestingly, just like Mitchell and Shaun, their father Geoff has also represented the Australian cricket team in 50 Tests and 117 ODIs during his 7-year-long career.
