CLT20 2014: Lahore Lions are capable of spoiling the party for many favourites

Led  by former T20 captain of Pakistan Mohammad Hafeez, Lahore Lions are all set to take on the big guns in the CLT20 2014. It’s not very often these days that Pakistani players get to play in India, and for this reason, there’s a lot of excitement among the fans of both the nations i.e. India and Pakistan.

Lahore Lions will play their first qualifier against Mumbai today ( 13 September ), and it would be just fair to say that they have the potential to spoil the party of many favorites. Lahore Lions are more just a decent side. They have a good combination of youth and experience. There are six international players in Lahore Lions side- Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz, Aizaz Cheeme and Nasir Jamshed. Lahore Lions’ batting uint looks pretty solid with the likes of Shehzad, Jamshed, Hafeez and U Akmal batting at the top 4 positions.

With only 20 overs to play, the above mentioned batsmen should make up the top four and they have the firepower to put runs on the board. While the batting looks decent, bowling can be a bit of concern for the Lahore Lions. Lions’ bowling attack will be led by Wahab Riaz. Earlier, there were concerns over his availability when his daughter fell ill, but now, he will participate in CLT20 2014.

Lions’ pace attack will be led by Wahab Riaz; who has been very inconsistent at the international level, but with the ability to bowl fast he will definitely put up a good fight. He will partnered with Aizaz Cheema, who’s also struggling to make a comeback. Cheema’s biggest strength is his speed, and he would be desperate to impress the selectors. Hafeez, who’s a brilliant T20 bowler, will bowl four overs and they are likely to be economical; but we are hearing the trump card will be a little known off-spinner Adnan Rasool. Rasool is more than capable of winning a match on his own and he will Lions’ trump card in the tournament.

This is the best Pakistani team to have made it to the Champions League, and there are huge expectations from them. Lahore Lions are capable of spoiling the party for many favourites. The team is decent to say the least. .
