Mohammad Kaif Pointed Out The Biggest Mistake Of Rohit Sharma In ICC Tournaments: The Indian cricket team failed to end its ICC trophy drought last month as they suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Australia in the World Test Championship Final. It has been more than a decade since Team India last won an ICC trophy. It was in 2013, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, when the Indian cricket team last won an ICC trophy – the Champions Trophy 2013.
Ever since then, the team has been struggling to get their hands on the prestigious trophy. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, team India dominated all the teams, especially in the longest format of the game, however, it failed to break the trophy drought regardless.
Later, expectations were sky-high when Rohit Sharma took over the reins from Virat Kohli in late 2021, along with legendary batter Rahul Dravid replacing Ravi Shastri as head coach. However, under the talented duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, team India has finished s semi-finalists (T20 World Cup 2022) and runners-up (WTC 2021-23) in the two ICC tournaments.
Mohammad Kaif Pointed Out The Biggest Mistake Of Rohit Sharma

Time and again, from fans to experts and cricketers, several people have highlighted how Team India misses the leadership of MS Dhoni. However, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has questioned the school of thought behind this. He stated that Rohit is also capable of taking Team India to title victories.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Kaif said:
“Dhoni has done well. I believe the likes of Rohit Sharma and all these guys are good captains. You have Rahul Dravid as a coach, what else do you want?”
“Ya, you miss Dhoni because he has done so well in ICC events but I think someone like Rohit Sharma can take the team forward. He has got the players and the team to win ICC events.”
Further, Kaif said that Team India made mistakes in their team selection in their crucial ICC matches that led to their downfall. He stated that Dhoni wouldn’t have made those mistakes. He said:
“They have made mistakes, you went to Australia, you picked Ashwin ahead of Chahal. Chahal was in your scheme of things in T20Is. You dropped Chahal and picked Ashwin. So you have been making all these basic mistakes.
“That’s why you talk about MS Dhoni because he knows who to play in the first XI. The major strength of Dhoni is backing his players. I think that’s what the Indian team is probably missing right now,”
