IND vs NZ: Wasim Jaffer Highlights The Best Thing About Shubman Gill’s Batting

Shubman Gill, who recently took the cricket world by storm by scoring a scintillating double century against New Zealand, carried his destructive form in the shortest format as well. Gill scored his maiden century in the t20I format against New Zealand in the ongoing 3rd match at  Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Shubman Gill took 54 balls to reach his maiden century and become only the fifth Indian to hit hundreds across all formats of the game, joining Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, and KL Rahul in the elite list. With this, Gill created history in Indian cricket as he surpassed Suresh Raina to become the youngest Indian to hit a T20I century. He achieved the milestone in 23 years and 146 days, just 10 days short of Raina, who had scored 101 against South Africa in 2010 aged 23 years and 156 days.

Talking about his knock, he walked out to open the innings with the Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Though he started his innings a bit slower but the way he ended his knock was commendable. After reaching the half-century, Shubman switched gears and started attacking the Kiwi bowlers to all the corners of the ground.

He formed amazing partnerships with Rahul Tripathi (80-run stand for the 2nd wicket) and with Hardik Pandya (103-run stand for the fourth wicket). Gill returned to the pavilion after playing an unbeaten knock of 126 runs off 63 balls, smashing 12 fours and 7 sixes.

Meanwhile, fans on social media went berserk after Shubman Gil’s blockbuster knock. From cricketers, and experts to fans everyone took to their Twitter to hail the brilliance of the young Indian batter.

Among many, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer also took to his social media and hailed Shubman Gill for his amazing knock. In his Tweet, Jaffer revealed the best thing about Shubman Gill’s batting. He wrote: “The best part about Gill’s batting is how many good balls he hits for 4s & 6s. Batting like a dream. Congratulations on maiden T20I ton  @ShubmanGill 👏🏽 #INDvNZ”
