Australia’s sensational pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the upcoming IPL 2022 mega-auction. He had not registered himself for the mega-auction, despite giving hints of his return to the Indian Premier League for the first time since the 2015 edition and now the star pacer has explained his decision to opt-out of the mega-auctions.

Speaking on his decision to opt-out of the upcoming mega-auctions, Mitchel Starc explained that he wants to stay away from bio-bubble for a while to get himself refreshed before the next assignment of Australia.

“I was a click of the button away from entering the auctions but personally didn’t want to spend 22 more weeks in a bubble, needed some time to refresh the body, and for me, that’s prioritizing Aussie games,” Starc was quoted as saying by EspnCricinfo.

Mitchell Starc, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and 2015, had picked 34 wickets in 27 matches at an economy rate of 7.16 and a strike rate of 17. However, he hasn’t featured in any season of the Indian Premier League since 2015.

Starc also added that he would love to play in the Indian Premier League sometime, but for now, he wants to spend time with his family. He said:

“There’ll be a time where I’d love to go back to the IPL but in terms of wanting to play as much as I can for Australia, a multi-format player as well, that’s a decision I’ve taken and that gives me an opportunity to spend time with Alyssa and family in those eight weeks outside of a cricket bubble,”

Meanwhile, recently Mitchell Starc was awarded the Allan Border award for an exceptional year on the field. Starch picked 43 wickets at an average of 24.4 in the calendar year and also finished as the leading wicket-taker of the country.

Speaking on winning the award, Starc said: “The last two years, as life is at the moment, there’s a lot of ups and downs. You find ways to adapt and what not, but it’s a reflection of the support base I have had throughout those two years as well. There have certainly been times when I haven’t played my best cricket or certainly times over those two years where I didn’t want to play any cricket.”
