Veteran Indian keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik took the internet by storm on Tuesday (8 August) as he confirmed his participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be played in India from October 5 to November 19.
Dinesh Karthik To Take Part In The ODI World Cup 2023

The 38-year-old dropped a hint while replying to a Twitter user on Tuesday (August 8th). It all started after a fan of Dinesh Karthik tagged him in a Tweet, which asked Twitterati to pick their first and second-choice India wicketkeepers for the upcoming tournament, from among the likes of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson.
Dinesh Karthik, who played the 2019 ODI World Cup and 2022 T20 World Cup for Team India, was quick to notice the Tweet and come up with a reply to the fans. DK replied:
“You’ll see me in the World Cup, for sure, is what I can say.”

Well, there are chances that DK will take part in the marquee tournament in a different role, donning the commentary hat in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup 2023, considering he hasn’t played for the Indian cricket team since the 2022 T20 World Cup where he failed to leave an impression with his performance after staging a fairytale comeback in the IPL 2022.
Notably, DK has covered two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) finals as a player but it will be his first time as a commentator in the World Cup. Currently, Dinesh Karthik is in England for commentary in the ongoing ‘The Hundred’. He recently covered the Ashes 2023 and WTC 2023 Final in the UK.
Talking about wicketkeeping, Ishan Kishan has emerged as the top contender for the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI World Cup. Kishan recently smashed three consecutive half-centuries in as many games against the West Indies.
