Asia Cup 2023 is just around the corner. The tournament is all set to kickstart on August 30 and will serve as a major test for all teams ahead of the World Cup 2023, which is set to start on 5 October. Six teams will be competing against each other in the tournament — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

For the first time in history, this tournament will take place in a hybrid model, as per which four games will take place in Pakistan and the rest of the nine games will take place in Sri Lanka, including the final clash.

The first Asia Cup was held in 1984 in the UAE, with India winning the title and Sri Lanka finishing as the runners-up. Notably, only 3 teams, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India participated.

Talking about India’s record in this tournament, the Men in Blue have won the title seven times, having won last in 2018 under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. Team India has been the most successful in the Asia Cup. On the other hand, Pakistan has won the tournament twice. They won the Asia Cup last in 2012. However, the remaining three countries, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, have yet to secure a victory in the Asia Cup.
