Shubman Gill also played an unbeaten inning, notching up 67 runs off 62 deliveries, decorated with eight fours and a maximum.
This triumphant win secured India’s place in the Super 4 stage and marked their first victory of the tournament. Their opening match against Pakistan had been abandoned after the first innings due to rain in Pallekele. India struggled in that match, getting bowled out for 266 runs in 48.5 overs. Rohit Sharma (11) and Shubman Gill (10) had a lackluster performance, and it was Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) who salvaged the team.
