Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have spent copious amounts of time together on and off the field over the past decade-and-half years.

Rohit Sharma became India’s permanent white-ball opener in 2013 and Virat Kohli had made the number 3 position his own in 2012. Thus, both the behemoths of batting have spent a vast amount of time in the middle alongside each other.

In fact, since 2013, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the third-most successful batting pair in ODI cricket with 3973 in 67 innings together at a terrific partnership average of 63 with 14 century stands – the joint second-most in this period.

Only Rohit Sharma-Shikhar Dhawan (5150 runs) and Hashim Amla-Quinton de Kock (4300) have more partnership runs than Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma, but both those have pairs have a significantly lower average than the Indian opener and number 3.

Rohit Sharma reveals what he and Virat Kohli talk about when batting together

Currently in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma spoke with veteran journalist Vimal Kumar about what he and Virat Kohli discuss when they are batting together, and also what the discussions are about ahead of the start of a series.

“When we’re out there on the pitch together, we engage in discussions about the bowlers we’re facing and strategize on how best to handle them. We often delve into our plans for the upcoming challenges before each series, meticulously analyzing the opposition’s key players and potential threats. It’s all part of our continuous effort to stay well-prepared and vigilant on the field,” Sharma told Vimal Kumar in an interview.

Meanwhile, Rohit, Kohli and India players are gearing up for a big game on September 10 in Colombo against Pakistan in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2023. With the weather not looking good for that game, the ACC has added an extra reserve day only for the India-Pakistan encounter in Super 4, and also for the final on September 17 in Colombo.
