India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah recently became a father for the first time after his wife Sanjana Ganesan delivered a baby boy earlier this month.

Jasprit Bumrah had left the Asia Cup 2023 midway, missing the match against Nepal to be with his wife and attend the birth of his child. After that, he took to Twitter to announce the birth of his son, naming him Angad.

Soon after, Jasprit Bumrah returned to Sri Lanka to resume playing in the Asia Cup 2023.

After the play on Sunday in Colombo, with the India vs Pakistan match being interrupted by rain and now it will resume on Monday, the Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi gave a special gift to Jasprit Bumrah on becoming the father for the first time in his life.

Both the players beamed and Shaheen gave wishes for the health of Bumrah’s child. Bumrah said ‘Thank You’ plenty of times. This video has gone viral on social media with fans adoring both Shaheen Afridi for this gesture and Bumrah for his grace in accepting the gift.

Meanwhile, talking about play on Sunday, the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill shrugged off their poor performances from the previous game against Pakistan and both cracked sizzling half-centuries in their 121-run opening stand.

Rohit Sharma scored 56 runs in 49 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes while Gill scored 58 runs in 52 balls with the help of 10 fours. Both took the attack to Shaheen, Naseem, Rauf, and Faheem. However, Pakistan came back in the game as dismissed both openers within a space of two overs.

Then Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who replaced Shreyas Iyer who picked up a back spasm minutes before the toss, steadied the ship and both are unbeaten, Kohli on 8 and Rahul on 17 when after 24.1 overs rain stopped the match.

The match will resume on Monday, the reserve day from this point.
