5 Top Players Who Might Miss The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
Cricket fans all across the globe are counting down the days before the 50-over extravaganza, the Cricket World Cup 2023, takes place in India from October 5 to November 19. As the competition draws nearer, though, numerous star players from different nations are dealing with ailments at the worst possible moment.
Their teams are hoping for a quick recovery so they can compete in the World Cup despite the injuries that have placed doubt on their ability to do so. Here are five of cricket’s best who may not make it to the 2023 World Cup:

5 Top Players Who Might Miss The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:

Naseem Shah (Pakistan)

After injuring his right shoulder in Pakistan’s Asia Cup Super Four match against India in Colombo, fans are worried about the future of fast bowling sensation Naseem Shah, who might represent their country in the World Cup. The 20-year-old is an integral cog in Pakistan’s potent fast-bowling unit. After sending Naseem to Dubai for scans, the Pakistan Cricket Board is still waiting for the findings of a second scan to determine whether or not he will be available to play.

Travis Head (Australia)

After breaking his left hand in the fourth ODI against South Africa, Australian opener Travis Head is dealing with a serious injury worry. Gerald Coetzee, a seamer for the Proteas, bowled a short ball that hit the batsman on the left glove. His availability is in question for Australia’s World Cup opener on October 8 against India in Chennai.

Tim Southee (New Zealand)

Tim Southee, a veteran bowler for New Zealand, dislocated and fractured a bone in his right thumb during the fourth ODI against England, and he may have to miss his fourth World Cup as a result. The 34-year-old was hurt trying to catch Joe Root, the England batsman, at first slip. First up for New Zealand is a rematch with England from the 2019 final, which will be played in Ahmedabad.

Maheesh Theekshana (Sri Lanka)

Maheesh Theekshana, a spinner for Sri Lanka, was injured in the Asia Cup Super Four match against Pakistan and will miss the championship game against India. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka is certain that teenage spinner Theekshana will be fit enough to play in the World Cup, but the young man will be under strict medical observation in the coming weeks.

Axar Patel (India)

In a meaningless Super Four encounter against Bangladesh, the Indian left-arm spinner Axar Patel suffered several injuries. While batting, he dived and was hit in the wrist, sustaining bruising. As a precaution, India has called up all-rounder Washington Sundar, and the country is keeping a close eye on Axar’s fitness in the lead-up to the World Cup.
