The Indian cricket team kicked off their new year in a blockbuster way as they defeated Sri Lanka by 2 runs in the first T20I match of the ongoing 3-match series at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The Indian bowlers stole the show, especially Shivam Mavi, who made a dream debut. The Hardik Pandya-led side batted first after Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian side posted a total of 162 runs at the loss of 5 wickets.

Young medium pacer Shivam Mavi finished the game with a 4-22 spell on his dream debut as team India defended a modest total of 162 runs. Shivam claimed two wickets in his first spell in his debut match, while Harshal Patel bagged another two wickets. Umran Malik took one as team India sent back the Sri Lanka batter for 68 runs.

Sri Lanka skipper Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga formed a decent partnership and added 40 runs for the 6th wicket but just when the two looked like taking the game away, Shivam broke their partnership by sending back Hasaranga.

Hardik Pandya claimed a stunning catch to send back Bhanuka Rajapaksa, as Sri Lanka slumped to 108/6 in the 15th over. But Shanaka was still the dangerman as he was striking lusty blows to take Sri Lanka to 34 needed off 20 balls. He smashed some amazing shots off, Harshal Patel and Umran Malik.

Shivam Mavi struck again, when Sri Lanka needed four runs off the final delivery, Mavi sent back Maheesh Theekshana for one, caught by Suryakumar Yadav at long-off with a length ball outside off.

Meanwhile, Shivam has been receiving praise from all corners. From cricketers to experts and fans, everyone is hailing the brilliant performance of Shivam on his debut match. A video of Shivam Mavi’s parents celebrating the dream debut of their son has gone insanely viral on social media. The heartwarming video has left everyone in awe.
