Steve Smith Has The Name ‘Virat Kohli’ Written On His Bat: Dinesh Karthik

The cricketer-cum-commentator Dinesh Karthik has made a sensational and very interesting revelation that Australian batsman Steve Smith has the name Virat Kohli written on his bat!

Steve Smith and Kohli both will be taking part in the upcoming World Cup 2023, which is all but certain to be the last ODI WC for both the stalwarts. Dinesh Karthik, too, will be part of the tournament, but not as a player, as a commentator.

Karthik, who is still part of the RCB franchise, has been doing commentary since 2021, and has garnered the respect of the fans and his co-commentators.

In the build-up for the World Cup 2023, Karthik spoke about the likes of Steve Smith, Kohli, Kane Williamson et all for Cricbuzz. In the video, he made an interesting revelation that when he met Smith in the WTC Final 2023 at The Oval, he saw the name ‘Virat Kohli’ written on his bat. Smith further told Karthik that he’s waiting for more bats from the Indian cricket. This, DK said, showed the mutual respect between the two greats of the game.

“I met Smith during the WTC final & saw Virat Kohli written on his bat. Smith told me I have been playing with Kohli’s bat for some time now & he told me that for the Ashes he is waiting for Kohli to send another bat – that is respect & bond both shares between them,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

Smith cracked a century in the WTC Final against India, and then also started the Ashes 2023 against England with a big ton. Smith completed the trio of ICC trophies – an ODI World Cup, a T20 World Cup, and ICC World Test Championship, although he didn’t win a Champions Trophy.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has won an ODI WC and a Champions trophy and has failed to win a T20 WC and the WTC mace.

Karthik also hailed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who is also playing in what is likely to be his last ODI WC.

“He (Kane) has taken over the legacy from some great captains for New Zealand – Martin Crow, Stephen Fleming, Brendon McCullum – to name a few. We all know how good he was in 2015 as a player, and in 2019, he took it a notch up with the Player of the Tournament, and he has led New Zealand with absolute integrity,” Karthik said.
