[World Cup 2023] Top 10 Hilarious Memes From Captains’ Day Event In Ahmedabad

On October 4, that is on the eve of the World Cup 2023, all 10 captains in the competition assembled under one root, at the banquet hall of the Gujarat Cricket Association Clubhouse, in Ahmedabad, for the ‘Captains’ Day’ event, which was a press conference hosted by Ravi Shastri and Eoin Morgan ahead of the mega-event.

It was a fun event that gave a few funny moments, which later translated into hilarious memes on social media.

India captain Rohit Sharma was asked the most number of questions, not only he’s the host captain of the World Cup 2023, but also the skipper of the favorite team for many fans and experts to lift the trophy.

Among the spate of questions that Rohit answered, one was a really weird and tricky query from a journalist. A journalist asked Rohit Sharma about the 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand, in which England were declared as winners on the virtue of a higher boundary count after the match in the regular 50-over per innings and the Super Over was tied.

Perplexed by this question, Rohit laughingly said, “That’s not my job, sir. Declaring all this is not my job.”

This was the first incident in this event that gave the meme template to the fans. As the room burst into laughter, so did Babar Azam, the Pakistan captain who understood Rohit’s answer. Seeing the journalists laugh, Jos Buttler, sitting next to Babar, enquired about what was the joke. Babar calmly leaned into Buttler’s ear and explained to him the reason for everyone’s laughter.

On the other side, sitting between Kane Williamson and Dasun Shanaka was South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, who had seemingly dozed off. A picture of Bavuma went viral in which he had his head tilting downward with eyes looking down, making up for another funny meme template for the fans. “I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping,” he clarified on Twitter.

Here are some funny memes from the Captains’ Day event ahead of World Cup 2023:
