Shoaib Akhtar

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has made his prediction about the much-anticipated game between India and Pakistan in the World Cup 2023 group stage. However, his prediction backfired on him as fans trolled the former speedster with hilarious memes.

India and Pakistan will clash on October 14, Saturday, at the iconic, gigantic, 132,000-seater Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Both India and Pakistan have won their first two matches of the World Cup 2023. However, the manner of victories have been contrasting.

Pakistan have had to fight hard against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, India, the Asia Cup champions who defeated Pakistan mercilessly last month in Colombo, have been largely convincing against Australia and Afghanistan, barring a brief period of play against Australia when they lost three early wickets.

Shoaib Akhtar gets trolled for “History shall repeat itself tomorrow” tweet

Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter on Friday to make his prediction, although more so like a declaration before a war. Nonetheless, he posted a picture of himself from the 2011 World Cup and captioned “History shall repeat itself tomorrow”.

The Indian fans were quick to remind him of the history between India and Pakistan in ODI World Cups: India defeated Pakistan in all their 7 encounters in the ODI World Cup, which also included victory in the 2011 semi-final, the game from which Shoaib Akhtar was dropped; not to forget, the bashing Sachin Tendulkar handed him in the 2003 World Cup.

Here’s how Indians trolled back Akhtar:

Meanwhile, India team management has received a piece of optimistic news about Shubman Gill. Gill batted for a couple of hours in the nets on Friday morning. Although his chances of playing tomorrow are slim, if he’s declared fit to play, he will replace Ishan Kishan in the side.

Squads:

India: Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Suryakumar YadavPakis
