November 28, 2023, was the last time Ishan Kishan played a cricket match. Since then, the 25-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper batsman has not featured in a single professional game.

He has also skipped all of Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy matches this year and has reportedly been in contact with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association.

What are the reasons for it? Is the southpaw upset with the selectors and team management for being dropped from the T20I team in South Africa in December? Has that led to an ego-clash between Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma and the management? Where is he right now? What is he doing?

We have got all the answers.

The last outing in India Ishan Kishan, who played in two World Cup 2023 matches, was in the third T20I of the five-match series against Australia in November. He was then omitted from the T20I and ODI squads for the tour of South Africa and was picked for the Test series ahead of KS Bharat. However, the youngster withdrew from the South Africa Tests, citing personal reasons, and has since then not made himself available for selection.

India head coach Rahul Dravid, after India’s win over England in Vizag, made it clear that Kishan will need to play some matches to be considered for selection, but the selectors and management are not forcing him for anything. Amid this, there were rumors of a chasm growing between Kishan on one side and Rohit and the management on the other; however, that doesn’t seem to be the case right now.

Where is Ishan Kishan right now?

According to the latest report in Cricbuzz, Ishan Kishan has been in Baroda for the last two weeks, training at the Kiran More Academy with Hardik and Krunal Pandya.

He has decided to skip all the Ranji trophy matches in January and February, and will straightaway return to the action in the IPL 2024 in March. He will play under Hardik Pandya, the new captain of the Mumbai Indians. The BCCI selectors will announce India’s squad for the rest of the three Tests against England and Kishan is not expected to be picked.
