A Fan Asked “Will You Pick Ashwin On A Green Wicket?” And Sanjay Manjrekar Replied Brilliantly: As the Indian cricket team is gearing up for the upcoming pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide, the selection of players in the playing XI has become one of the most discussed topics. From the choice of wicket-keeper to India playing with 4 or more pacers, a lot is being discussed ahead of the upcoming series.
R Ashwin has been the star performer for team India in the longest format of the game. However, with players like Ravindra Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, it will be very tough for the Virat Kohli led-side to select one player.
Recently, a fan asked Sanjay Manjrekar if the grass is too much in Adelaide for the pink ball test, can team India go with 4 pacers as the fan claimed that R Ashwin is hardly effective on the grassy wickets. The fan asked:
“Dear Sanjay if the grass is too much in Adelaide for the pink ball test, can India go with 4 pacers? Ashwin is hardly effective on grassy wickets. Vihari can bowl some off spin”
Sanjay Manjrekar was quick to notice the tweet and come up with a brilliant reply to it. In his reply, Manjrekar praised Ravichandran Ashwin by saying that he is a quality bowler. He wrote:
“It’s about having quality bowlers in the side and Ashwin is quality. Grass on pitch does not mean will suit pace all five days.”

Recently, Sanjay Manjrekar was also asked about his preference between Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha. The fan asked:
“Who should be India’s first choice wicketkeeper for the 1st Test against Australia?
Rishabh Pant or Wriddhiman Saha?”
The former cricketer-turned-commentator reasoned that Saha should be picked on the basis of their keeping skill in the longest format of the game. He wrote:
“In Tests always keeping skills first. Drop a Steve Smith early and he gets a 200! So Saha. Also need a better keeper against pace in Australia. Again Saha.”
