The teams who will be participating in the upcoming auction, trying to buy the best of the players for their side, released the list of the players who they will be keeping in and whom will they release. There were some of the big names who were left out by the franchises, with the biggest one being that of Lasith Malinga, who was released by the Mumbai Indians after he announced his retirement.

Starc to become the most expensive IPL buy ever, wrote Aakash Chopra

The veteran player and commentator, Aakash Chopra took it to Twitter on Wednesday to name his picks to be the most sought after and hence expensive players of the IPL 2021 auction. And, the first name in his list was the spin bowling sensation from Afghanistan, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, who according to his prediction will be sold for somewhere between Rs. 7-8 crores.

Following Mujeeb on the list were Chris Green and Mitchell Starc. Green was predicted to be sold for a sum in between the Rs. 5 to 6 crores mark, and Starc, according to him could end up being the most expensive player to be sold in the history of the IPL. Starc prior to the start of the 2020 edition of the IPL, had pulled out and given the experience and skill that he brings to the table, could make him an expensive player.

The only New Zealander in his list, Kyle Jamieson, according to him would receive solid interest, potentially getting an IPL contract worth Rs. 5-7 crores and Jason Roy too was predicted to get a sum as high as Rs. 4-6 crores in the IPL 2021 auction.

One of the biggest claims that were made on Chopra’s part of things was for Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Coulter Nile, who in his opinion are still capable of fetching a good sum of money. He wrote in his Tweet, ‘Maxwell and NCN will still get decent contracts.’

With the retention window for IPL franchises coming to a close and player trades going on in full swing, it will be interesting to see how the teams perceive the importance of these players, and how well does Aakash Chopra’s prediction age, once the hammer starts to bang in the auction hall.
